Inspection Process
In order to determine the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials in the Building, the inspection process
included a physical detection to Identify these materials. The inspection has been undertaken in a non destructive
manner.
Asbestos Material Register
The Asbestos Materials Register outlines the areas inspected and where samples are suspected to contain
materials .
Laboratory Testing
Laboratory Samples are taken as required for the identification of the type of Asbestos.
Background
Asbestos-base materials were used in the construction of many buildings/structures built prior to 1987.
In recognition of this fact and against a background of increased public concern over the Health risks resulting
from the presence of asbestos in buildings and other structures where people spend their working day, the National
Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) produced the CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF ASBESTOS IN
WORKPLACES INOHSC: 20l8 (2005).
