Asbestos Reports

Asbestos Awareness week

The week starting 21 November 2011 was National Asbestos Awareness week. Over the next 20 years an estimated 30-40 thousand Australians will be diagnosed with an asbestos related disease. While asbestos is only dangerous when disturbed lack of knowledge as well as natural disasters cause a large number of asbestos incidents. The government has put forward a target to make Australia asbestos free by 2030. To order an asbestos inspection contact us.

Inspection Process/Asbestos Pack

In order to determine the presence of Asbestos Containing Materials in the Building, the inspection process included a physical detection to Identify these materials. The inspections are undertaken in a non destructive manner. After we have completed our inspection an asbestos pack will be delivered with all the materials and information needed to handle any asbestos in your building. The pack includes:

  • Asbestos Report
  • Asbestos Material Register
  • Asbestos Management Plan
  • Signage

Asbestos Report

The asbestos report is a document that gives details about all areas inspected for asbestos as well as what you need to know about dealing with asbestos in your building.

Asbestos Material Register

Starting the 1st of January 2012, buildings built before 31st December 2003 are required to have an Asbestos Register and Signage. Previously these requirements were prior to 1990. The Asbestos Materials Register outlines the areas inspected and where samples are suspected to contain materials. This is a government required document that should be seen and signed by all who work on a building that contains asbestos.

Asbestos Management Plan

This is a template that is filled out by all who work on any area that has or is suspected of having asbestos. This is filled out by contractors who are doing work where asbestos may be disturbed and copies are kept by all involved parties.

Signage

We include a variety of signs for asbestos in your building.

Background

Asbestos-base materials were used in the construction of many buildings/structures built prior to 1987.

In recognition of this fact and against a background of increased public concern over the Health risks resulting from the presence of asbestos in buildings and other structures where people spend their working day, the National Health and Safety Commission (NOHSC) produced the CODE OF PRACTICE FOR THE MANAGEMENT AND CONTROL OF ASBESTOS IN WORKPLACES INOHSC: 20l8 (2005).
